Baldree, Betty Ann
Betty Ann Baldree dedicated 46 years of service to Lee University, affectionately known as the “voice of Lee.” Starting in 1963, she became the first voice many heard when calling the university, managing the switchboard through decades of technological changes. Baldree’s role extended beyond answering calls—she coordinated the university’s phone systems, and as the receptionist for Lee’s main administration building, welcomed countless visitors, students, and parents. For all this, she was described as “an institution within an institution” and was lauded for her gracious style, dignity, and superb work. Her retirement in 2009 marked the end of an era, but her legacy of service, warmth, and commitment will never be forgotten.
