Excellence in Advising Award
Lee University has three faculty awards, each given annually in recognition of outstanding faculty: Excellence in Teaching, Excellence in Scholarship, and Excellence in Advising.
The Excellence in Advising Award was established in 1996 and recognizes one faculty member each year based on his or her significant contribution in guiding students through academic advising. The award criteria include demonstrating Christian care and concern for each advisee, being available and accessible, assisting students in developing an educational plan consistent with life goals and objectives, assisting students in evaluation or re-evaluation of progress toward established goals and educational plans, and providing accurate information about institutional policies, procedures, resources, and programs.
The recipient is nominated by department chairs or school deans and selected by a faculty committee chaired by the University Registrar. The nominations are based in part on information gathered from student evaluations of their advisors. The recipient of the award is recognized formally at Spring Commencement and is given a stipend.
