Griffith, Robert "Bob"

Bob Griffith joined the Lee faculty in 1970 and taught continuously until his retirement in 2019. He was among Lee’s first full-time mathematics instructors and was instrumental in developing the mathematics program as the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics took shape. He routinely taught math of all levels to non-majors and majors alike; in his 49 years at Lee, several thousand students sat under Mr. Griffith’s instruction. With a graduate degree in Mathematics Education from University of Tennessee, Knoxville, he considered his specialty to be preparing teachers for careers in the math classroom. With the generations of math teachers he helped to prepare, his work at Lee truly had an exponential impact.
