Murray, Debbie Bilbo

Dr. Debbie Murray devoted her career to establishing Lee University’s reputation for academic excellence. Joining the faculty in 1980, she ultimately achieved the rank of Distinguished Professor of Education as one of Lee’s longest serving faculty members. She was also the first dean of the Helen DeVos College of Education, serving in that capacity for 25 years. In 2013, she was appointed Vice President for Academic Affairs, and in 2020, became the university’s first Provost, overseeing all academic programs. Murray received numerous accolades, including Lee’s Excellence in Advising Award and Alumna of the Year for the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and in 2024 the Church of God honored her with its prestigious Distinguished Educator Award. The Debbie Murray Garden is named to honor her lasting contributions to Lee University.
